Frequently Asked Questions about Student Software Download

1.Which authorized software can students download?
A: Please access to the CGU Licensed Software Service by using your student ID and the Single Sign-On password (refer to the guidelines of Single Sign-On password). Once you're signed in, you can see a list of available software to download.
 
2.How to authenticate the campus authorized software after I downloaded and installed it?
A: Please access to CGU Licensed Software Service. (Student version).Then you can download the software and the certification instructions. The user name is the student ID and password is the Single Sign-On password (refer to the guidelines of Single Sign-On password).
 
3.Can I download the licensed or certified version of software outside?
A: Please use the Campus Virtual Network Service (TWAREN SSL VPN).Username is the school _ID@cgu.edu.tw, Password is a Single Sign-On password. You can refer to the guidelines of Single Sign-On password. (Note) VPN can only register software. Please logout after completing registration. You can’t download the software outside the campus. Using VPN only authentication is possible. Please download the software in campus.
 
4.Can students borrow the licensed version of software from the Computer center?
A: The Computer Center can only borrow the authorized software to faculty/staff members. Students can download the software from the CGU Licensed Software Service or borrow them from the software in-charge of each department.
 
5.What are the limitations of the Microsoft operating system provided by the campus-authorized software service network?
A:
 
(1)Microsoft has signed similar contracts with national universities/colleges. The campus authorization operation system is an “upgraded version”, that means the computer has already installed an legitimate copyright and an authorized Windows operating system (such as Vista, 7,8,10).Thus the user can install the upgraded version of operating system. Microsoft office does not have this limitations.
 
(2)Branded computers or laptops are generally sold with “OEM version” Windows operating system. The BIOS will lock the OEM version of the operating system, resulting in KMS can not pass. You can use the restore disc to irrigate your computer or contact the vendor for help to provide no ACPI_SLIC limit BIOS or upgrade the BIOS.
 
6.How can I confirm that the laptop or computer BIOS is suitable for the school's Microsoft KMS authorization?
A:
 
(1)You can Run the MGADiag Tool to to check whether the BIOS has been written in to the SLIC table and the Windows Marker Version is N/A。
 
(2)Please open Internet Explorer and visit the following link to download the MGADiag Tool. →Save the "MGADiag.exe" file to the "Desktop", and then double click on the file to run the tool. →Click on the "Continue" button to perform the diagnostics. →Note that the BIOS information for the ACPI_SLIC table does not appear in the graphical user interface output. →To see the BIOS information, click the Windows tab, click on the "Copy" button, and then paste the output into a Notepad.
 
(3)If the “SLIC table” and the “OEM Activation 2.0 Data -> BIOS valid for OA 2.0: yes, but no Windows marker Windows marker version: N / A” appears, please contact the vendor for help to upgrade the BIOS.
 
7.My laptop has installed Office 2016 and already authorized by KMS, but why every time when I open the Office there is requirement of authorization?
A:
 
(1)If the brand computer or laptop does not completely remove the “OEM version” of Office 365, there will be shown “authorization requirement message”, even you install the campus authorized software and has already authorized by KMS.
 
(2)You can completely uninstall Office with the easy fix tool by Microsoft company.Please open Internet Explorer and visit the following link to download the o15-ctrremove.diagcab Tool. →Save the "o15-ctrremove.diagcab" file to the "Desktop", and then double click on the file to run the tool. →Click "Next" in the lower right → Follow the prompts to restart your computer. And then you can reinstall Microsoft Office.
